In mid-2002, Oregon OSHA formed a Strategic Ergonomic Steering Committee to provide recommendations
on effective industry/Oregon OSHA collaborations. Two industry focus groups, Construction
and healthcare, with high numbers of soft-tissue injuries in Oregon were subsequently formed.
The charge of the Construction Ergonomics Initiative (CEI) is to develop strategies that
result in implementation of ergonomic solutions within the Construction Industry. These
strategies include 1) recommendations that need Oregon OSHA review, participation, or action,
and 2) actions the group's members can accomplish independent of Oregon OSHA.
